God's Work Begins In Your Heart
Nehemiah 1
Nehemiah, like Ezra, is a post-exilic book. He records the history of the nation of Israel after the nation is released from its captivity in Babylon. In this study, we find Nehemiah, a servant to the heathen king, Artaxerxes, a Medio-Persian ruler. During his time as a cup bearer, he hears of the demise of Jerusalem, how its walls were in shambles and the people who had gone back were in an unprotected state. His knowledge of this burdens his heart to the point of giving himself over to weeping, fasting, and praying before God.
