The Need for Daily Diligence Part 1
Nehemiah 13:1-14
The old saying, “when the cat is away, the mouse comes out to play,” describes what happened in Jerusalem after Nehemiah returned to Shushan for a time. In his absence, we find the leaders going back and making compromising commitments to the enemy by allowing some of them to not only move into the city, but into the Temple itself. Upon his return, Nehemiah again had to clean house by confronting the leaders and openly rebuking their sinful ways. We learn from this study that we can’t let our guard down for a moment, but that we must be diligent daily in our walk with God.
