Each Gospel of the New Testament is original in its design, meaning the Lord wishes to introduce different aspects of His Godhead through the life of the Son of Man, Jesus Christ. A physician by trade, we find Luke writing of Jesus' humanity. Luke's message is directed to the group of people considered most outcast and most discarded by the Jews: The Gentiles. Commonly referred to as the "wood for the fires of hell," the Jewish people never would have considered the Gentiles worth saving, let alone worth relating to, and yet here in Luke's Gospel we find Jesus presented as the Son of Man, that is God in the flesh. A fellow Gentile, Luke is seemingly cut out for this piece of writing, and describes how Jesus came to the earth and knew, through His own experience, of the plight, struggles, and sorrows of the human race. To make this point, you will see Luke's descriptions often containing phrases like "Jesus was tired, He was weary, He hadn't slept, He has been up all night." This account of Jesus draws us closer to Him in that we find relatability in the challenges He faced, just like us. Pastor Jack does a masterful job of bringing this approachable element of Jesus as a man to our understanding with the goal that we might see Jesus as just that: God in the flesh.
