Tongue Wagging (Part 1)
James 3:1-5a
In chapter three, James changes to the subject of the tongue and communication. Because of the length and detail of this subject, Pastor Jack deals with it in two parts. James starts by saying that since teachers are so visible and easily heard they will therefore will be subject to a more strict judgment. By way of comparison, James uses the example of horses' bits and ships' rudders to show how small objects control something much larger. The tongue, likewise being small, has the capacity to influence and control much through our speech.
